About Vroom
Hello 👋
Hi, I'm Grégoire — Vroom is a hobby project I've been building over the past three years, born out of a simple idea: I wanted an easy way to record and relive road trips.
There were times when I'd be exploring in a new area, stumble across an incredible stretch of road, and later have no clue where it was when I tried to find it on a map. Road trips should be about exploration and spontaneity — Vroom makes it easy to keep a log of the roads you've travelled, so you don't lose those hidden gems.
One key feature I really wanted was full offline functionality. In V1 of the app, it kept crashing while I was testing it in New Zealand — all because service is quite sparse in the South Island. So I rebuilt it to work even in the most remote places. So if you ever find yourself bikepacking through the Himalayas, as you do, Vroom has your back.
The Journey
August 2022 - The Idea
I got the initial idea for Vroom - an app that allows you to record and share road trips.
July 2023 - Real-world test
Almost a year later, I did a successful real-world test of Vroom's core GPS tracking capabilities.
December 2023 - Vroom V1 Completed
Vroom V1 is complete and I tested it on a road trip round New Zealand, safe to say there was a lot of room for improvement.
August 2024 - Vroom V2 Development Begins
I decided to scrap it all and start again, with a new tech stack and taking what I learned from V1.
May 2025 - Release Vroom V2
Vroom V2 is ready for some testing and the companion app is ready to be released.

How to Share Your Road Trip
Sharing your adventures with the Vroom community is simple. Follow these four easy steps to record, customize, and publish your road trips.
Record
Open the Vroom companion app and hit record to capture your road trip. The app will track your route and save it locally to your device for a seamless experience.
Upload
Once you're back, upload your trip from the companion app. This saves your trip to your Vroom account in the cloud, ready for you to customize.
Customize & Publish
Visit your profile at app.vroomapp.uk/profile to add a title, description, and photos to your trip. Choose your privacy settings and hit publish when you're ready to share.
Share & Connect
Watch the Vroom community discover your journey! Get likes, comments, and connect with fellow road trip enthusiasts who share your passion for the open road.
